One of VEO\u2019s most significant Expert Service customers in the Swedish market is the district heating company Mark Kraftv\u00e4rme. The two companies have worked together for several years and since Mark Kraftv\u00e4rme has been satisfied with the projects carried out by VEO, the company also turned to VEO when it in 2015 was time to start renewing the automation system in the company\u2019s steam and district heating units. The units consist of several boilers, accumulators, fuel gas condensation, fuel handling, fuel polygrab, etc.<\/p>\n

\u201dThis is an extensive and demanding project in which the entire automation system is replaced,\u201d explains Johan L\u00e5ng, Sales Manager, Expert Services Business Unit.<\/p>\n

What made the project even more demanding was that the old automation system was really very old. This meant that it was not possible to reuse old code, so everything had to be renewed. The project could be carried through thanks to VEO\u2019s thorough process expertise. New control features could be implemented by using existing field instruments, which in turn saved a lot of time.<\/p>\n

Thanks to VEO\u2019s expertise it was possible to replace the automation system without halting the processes. Some processes were run with the new and the old system in parallel, whereas other processes could be steered manually during the system change. The new automation system is an 800xA-system that is delivered with a double set of servers, a redundant network and controllers in order to increase the plant\u2019s availability. If one server goes down, there is always another one to take over.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201dThe old boiler has also been fine tuned in order to enhance combustion efficiency. The customer has in other words got even a little bit more than promised,\u201d says L\u00e5ng. The project will be finalised in autumn 2016, but Mark Kraftv\u00e4rme can already now see the good results of VEO\u2019s work.<\/p>\n

\u201dThe contract that we drew up prior to the delivery has corresponded well with the results,\u201d says Dennis Nyqvist, Plant and Maintenance Manager at Mark Kraftv\u00e4rme.<\/p>\n
