International environment provides versatile career opportunities
VEO provides international possibilities and versatile career paths for its employees in Finland, Sweden, Norway and the United Kingdom. Thanks to the encouraging and supporting working environment, every employee has a chance to improve their knowledge and abilities based on their individual goals.
VEO’s employees William Thao, Ville Vieri and Rune Höiem are happy to share their experiences of working at VEO: how have their skills and competences developed with the company and what kinds of career prospects has VEO offered them?
Many possibilities to grow and develop
As an employer, VEO pays attention to the personal goals of its employees and supports their individual development. William Thao, who currently works as a System Engineer at VEO’s UK-based branch I.C. Electrical, started his career at VEO as an intern. He feels he has developed especially his management skills during his years at VEO and is certain that the company will continue providing interesting opportunities for advancement in the future.
After a training period at VEO’s headquarters in Vaasa, Thao comments:
“VEO is full of interesting and qualified workers with whom you can grow and develop your own knowledge.”
Ville Vieri, Sales Manager for both VEO AS in Norway and VEO AB in Sweden, began his career by writing his engineering thesis for VEO. At the same time, he started to work as an hourly-paid employee at VEO, which first led to a summer job and later to a permanent employment relationship.
“I see a great deal of opportunities within VEO”, Vieri emphasises. According to him, VEO provides excellent possibilities to take the next step in one’s career path.
Goals are achieved by teamwork
“The will, the drive and the competence of the people here is unique”, says Rune Höiem, Project Manager at VEO in Sweden, as he describes the atmosphere at VEO.
As a project manager, Höiem makes sure that everything is delivered to the clients as agreed. His role can sometimes be rather fast-paced but the fantastic team with multiple different competences helps him to meet project goals.
“I am thankful and honoured to be part of VEO’s team”, Höiem says. “We respect and trust each other within the whole company”, he summarises.
Varying tasks in multiple countries
VEO’s operations in several countries deliver exciting opportunities for the employees. William Thao mentions that he has gained more knowledge about different cultures and improved his language skills while working at VEO.
”This is a real opportunity for any young engineer who is not afraid of new challenges and travelling”, says Thao. He describes VEO as a big family because close cross-border collaboration within the company is one of VEO’s strengths.
Based on his recent experiences from the training in Vaasa, Thao concludes: “Stronger together definitely sums up my experience in Finland.”
Also Ville Vieri has taken advantage of VEO’s international opportunities. He moved from Vaasa to Norway with his family to work at VEO AS. For Vieri, the change of location and time as an expat provided new challenges and varying workdays.
“During one week in Norway, I could visit a hydropower plant, have negotiations about a new wind project and represent the company at an industrial fair”, Vieri describes his diverse tasks while working abroad.
Vieri is also truly thankful for VEO’s flexibility as an employer.
“Without VEO’s operations in multiple countries I would not have achieved the position I have today”, he concludes.
