2 Environmental Responsibility
Our objective is to offer energy and material effi cient solutions and processes. We strive to minimise the amount of waste generated by our activities and to maximise waste recycling. In addition to waste management, the most signifi cant environmental considerations related to our operations are energy consumption and the management and control of isolated incidents.
We are committed to recognising and observing all environmental laws and regulations related to our operations. We monitor the environmental impact of our activities and implement environmental programmes aimed at reducing negative environmental effects. Our environmental management system has been certified to ISO 14001:2004.
3 Social Responsibility
We strive to avoid harmful health and safety effects resulting from our activities and products. In all our operations, we follow the laws and regulations on occupational health and safety. The employees of VEO are the company’s most important resource and, therefore, we promote their physical, mental and social well-being by proactive healthcare and actions in maintaining working ability maintenance.
We strive to make the working environment healthy and safe. The employees of VEO are trained in occupational health and safety matters. The aim in improving occupational health and safety is a continuous improvement by following best practices. The level of occupational health and safety is regularly monitored by means of different indicators. On the basis of the measurement results, the management of VEO sets annual goals and guarantees the availability of the resources necessary to achieve them.
