VEO’s marine solutions have grown to become an important part of the company’s operations. VEO supplies electrical power distribution systems and electrical propulsion drives applications to the marine sector.

“Behind our success is hard work and a strong belief in what we do. We have made product development work and built a solid team of experts in this area,” says Ann-Christin Back, Sales Manager, Marine Business.

All the projects VEO delivers to the marine industry are based on the company’s own products. The fact that VEO has its own switchgear factory is a competitive advantage, since it means that the company is able to deliver projects quickly and efficiently. Marine projects are always characterised by extremely strict safety regulations.

“There simply cannot be any faults at sea. The requirements are high and all the switchgear that we supply are inspected by various classification societies,” says Back.

2015 was one of the busiest years so far for VEO’s marine business. Stricter environmental requirements for vessels, as well as retrofit projects, explain part of the growth. VEO has mainly specialised in cruise ships and special vessels, and these areas have seen increased growth during the past years. So far, VEO has mainly delivered marine solutions to Finnish shipyards and via companies such as Danfoss and WE Tech Solutions, which use VEO’s products as part of their own solutions.

“Until now, we have mainly worked in Finland, but now we are actively looking for customers and cooperation partners abroad,” says Back.
